As always a tough course and like with Bearbrook another race that shows warm conditions, that said a few degrees less than last year. As the race favourite I was going back to reclaim last years title with a few challengers that had previously pulled out last year. Overall the race didnt impact me as much as last year i.e. the hills but from the outset felt exhausted and a poorly gut so towards the end managed to keep a minute between myself and second place lady but slowed towards the end of the race. Slightly slower than last year and having been off a few weeks due to a quad injury and still treating plantar injury it wasnt a bad race. Also saw Alex coming home in 2nd place so a good day out overall.
This race is never a PB for us, although Alex Pb’d on the course this year but great training race and massive local support from friends and Alex’s local club Datchet Dashers.
