Group leader recognised as Community Champion

A big Run England well done goes out to Samantha Amend from Marlow – group leader of the Reactivate Marlow running group – who has been rewarded for her sterling efforts in encouraging people to run!

Individuals and groups, who have made an outstanding sporting contribution locally, came together for a celebratory evening at Horwood House in Buckinghamshire on Friday 25 November.

It was their chance to see if they had won one of the nine prestigious Bucks Sport Awards presented by Zac Purchase MBE, Olympic Gold Medallist and Record Holder for the lightweight rowing doubles. Joining them were special guests such as Samantha Quek (England & Great Britain hockey player), Naomi Riches (Paralympic Rower) and Craig Gibbons (GB Swimmer) together with award sponsors and key leaders from local government, business, education and sport.

The event is organised each year by Bucks Sport, a local organisation making Buckinghamshire an active and successful county before, during and after the London 2012 Games.

Samantha Amend from Marlow won the Community Champion Award, sponsored by Nexus. She has inspired people of all ages, sizes and abilities to enjoy running. Among them are her running group participants at the Reactivate Marlow Run England group who have found the confidence to enter and enjoy local running events! Well done to Samantha!
